Jevario Buie, a 14-year-old boy, was tragically shot to death near the railroad tracks in Tampa on April 17, 2024, around 3:30 p.m. The incident took place between West Busch Boulevard and Rome Avenue. Tampa police responded to the scene following reports of gunfire and found Jevario Buie deceased. It was reported that he was attacked by a group of 12 teenagers prior to being fatally shot.
Residents in the vicinity reported hearing gunshots and noted an intense police and forensic presence following the incident. One neighbor recalled hearing three gunshots close by, while another observed a young individual fleeing from the scene. The community is alarmed by the violence, particularly the involvement of young people with firearms.
The police chief, Lee Bercaw, described Jevario Buie's death as a senseless tragedy and expressed the department's commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice. The community has been urged to provide any information that might help solve the case.
